Nakshatra
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This policy explains what Nakshatra (“the app”) does with your
information. Nakshatra is published by HeloCode Labs and distributed on
Google Play under the package name io.helocode.nakshatra.
01Birth details you enter
To produce a birth chart, nekath timings and compatibility results, the app asks for a date of birth, a time of birth and a birth place.
- These are stored on your device, and backed up to our Firebase storage so they are not lost if you reinstall the app or change phone.
- The backup is held against an anonymous account created automatically. It contains no name you have not typed yourself, no email address and no phone number.
- They are never sold, shared or used for advertising, and are not used to build any profile of you.
- Every chart, nekath and panchanga calculation runs entirely on your phone. Your birth details are not sent anywhere in order to produce a reading, and the app works fully offline.
- You can delete the backup at any time from within the app. See data retention and deletion.
If you save profiles for family members, the same applies to their details. Please only enter another person’s birth information if they are content for you to do so, including it being backed up.
02What is sent off your device
The app uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy, linked below.
| Service | Purpose | What it may receive |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Creating the anonymous account your backup belongs to | An anonymous account identifier. No name, email or phone number unless you later choose to sign in. |
| Cloud Firestore | Storing the backup of your birth details | Your birth date, birth time and birth place, and any name you entered |
| Google AdMob | Advertisements in the free version | Advertising ID, approximate location from IP address, device and app information, ad interactions |
| Firebase Analytics | Understanding which features are used | Anonymous usage events, device model, language, country |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Diagnosing crashes | Crash reports, stack traces, device state at the time of a crash |
| Firebase Remote Config | Adjusting app settings without an update | An app installation identifier, app version, language and country |
| RevenueCat | Validating purchases and subscriptions | An anonymous purchase identifier and receipt data |
| Google Play Billing | Processing payments | Handled entirely by Google. We never see or store card details. |
Only Cloud Firestore receives your birth details. The advertising, analytics and purchase services listed above do not, and your birth details are never used to target advertising.
03Signing in
By default your account is anonymous: it is created without asking you for anything, and it exists only to hold your backup.
You may optionally sign in with Google or with an email address and password so your profiles follow you to a new phone. If you do, we receive the email address associated with that sign-in.
04Advertising
The free version shows advertisements supplied by Google AdMob, which may use your device’s Advertising ID to show more relevant ads.
- You can reset or delete your Advertising ID under Settings → Privacy → Ads on your device.
- In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising is used, and can change that choice later in the app’s settings.
- Purchasing “Remove Ads” or any Pro subscription stops advertisements entirely.
- Your birth details are never shared with advertisers or used to select which advertisements you see.
05Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Internet | Backing up your profile, loading advertisements and validating purchases. Charts and nekath are calculated offline. |
| Notifications | Optional daily horoscope and poya reminders. Declining restricts nothing else. |
The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or precise location.
06Children
Nakshatra is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will address it.
07Data retention and deletion
Your backup is kept for as long as your account exists.
- To delete the backup, open Settings → Delete my details. This erases your birth details from this phone and from our storage at the same time, and asks you to confirm first because it cannot be undone. Your account is deleted with them where we are able to; when the sign-in is too old for us to remove it, what remains is an empty record holding an identifier and two dates, with none of your details attached.
- To remove the local copy, uninstall the app or clear its storage in Settings → Apps → Nakshatra → Storage.
- If you would rather ask us to delete it — or the app is already uninstalled — see delete your account and data, which explains what to send and what happens next.
Data held by the other third parties listed above is governed by their own retention policies, and each provides its own controls.
08Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data held about you, and to object to certain processing. The birth details we hold are exactly what you entered, visible to you in the app and deletable from it. For anything else, contact us using the details below and we will help.
09Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app.
